Let's talk about vagina movies!
Festival organizers have finalized the program for next month’s festival of erotic film and arts here in Victoria. Check the website for film, workshop and lounge programs, or pick up a printed program around town.
Come chat with me at the panel discussion after Petals: A Journey Into Self-Discovery. The film is about about photographer Nick Karras and adventures making, showing and viewing portraits of vulvas. I’ve previously discussed an earlier version of the film and reviewed the Petals book. Details:
- Sunday May 7, 2-4pm
- Film followed by discussion with me, Nick Karras and Jennifer from Libido Events
- $9 or festival pass
- Ambrosia Room, Fisgard at Douglas
Come out for the film and bring your questions and comments!
I’ll have various vagina buttons to give out, so come say Hi. I don’t get to meet myvag.net readers in person very often, and opportunities are rarely this appropriate. Hopefully any voyeuristic creeps will be either filtered out or enlightened by the preceding film, and the rest of us can make some friendly connections afterwards.
I’m interested to see this latest incarnation of Victoria’s erotica festival, which resurfaces with new organizers almost every year. This time, the focus seems to be classic erotica and official credentials from sex-positive institutions, with a few new, international films.
That sounds respectable enough to be comfortable for some newcomers, so I hope the events are packed. I haven’t read the whole program yet (it’s big!), but it looks like there should also be enough creative, quality programming that it won’t be boring for people who spend a lot of time with erotica. I’m sort of in the middle. We’ll see how it goes!
