Anatomy week marches on

Today, a review of Natalie Angier's masterful “fantasia,” Woman: An Intimate Geography. I review these things to help you find out about them, not to publish my critical opinion as if it matters.

The countdown is on to my roadtrip to Coachella, and in counting down I've noticed that the car ride coincides with the tail end of my current pack of birth control pills. That is, with my regularly scheduled bleeding and sore boobs. I'm considering just side-stepping the situation by starting my next pack of pills right away.

I'm such a slowpoke in jumping on that bandwagon. I've weathered airplane rides, school exams, steamy dates, and hiking trips during my period, but somehow a hot, crowded car ride with no showers for 8 days seems inconceivably gross to me when menstruation is added in.

I'll let you know how it goes.
